Quilt Along 2015 - June - Circle of Geese

I love this block. I used the same paper pieced pattern for the November Bee block, but I set the geese in a swirl.

May's Bee Block is My Month

My Bee is a scrap buster. My inspiration comes from Jeaneke's “Building Houses From Scraps" challenge.

http://buildinghousesfromscraps.blogspot.com/

This lovely Dutch lady’s project was to make 365 3-inch paper pieced house – one for every day of the year.

Instead I took a 9-inch paper pieced house and shrunk it by 50% to create a 4.5 inch house. You will see on your paper pieced sheets I redrew the 1/4 inch seam allowance since it was shrunk to 1/8 inch. Please use the redrawn line not the original dotted lined.

My house has a lawn, the original does not. Please use any of your scraps – solids, novelty, prints or holidays. The only two requests are that the sky is low volume, (my definition of low volume is broader than the Guild’s) and the grass is green.

I am planning on making a 120 block quilt. If you could make 4 houses I would be thrilled. If not please return the unused paper piecing.

If you scroll down in this link http://buildinghousesfromscraps.blogspot.com/ you will find many completed quilts which are fantastic.

April Bee Block - Dwell

This month's challenge for Linda is was a house pattern. The pattern is from Camille Roskelley's book Simply Retro and it is called Dwell. It is a very cute house and a simple to follow pattern. Linda provided lovely prints.

She said we could make two if we wanted. Since there was plenty of fabric, I did. I love my fussy cut door.

Next month is my turn and, no surprise, it will be a house again!!

March Bee Block - Snowy Winter Night

This month's bee block theme is snowy winter night. The block is paper pieced. The black dotted fabric for the snowing night sky and orange windows, to look like the lights are on, were requests for the block. The other fabric was given to use as desired. I chose the green and white for the roof because it looks snow covered. We were asked to return our blocks untrimmed.

Quilt Along 2015 - March - Filmstrip

The March block involved a wonky star bordered by a rectangle film strip. I would call this block "firestar".
