Issey Miyake 2056

This is my third Issey Miyake shirt. I wore out my other two. I saw this fabric at Hobby Lobby and it is perfect. (I had a indigo blue one which was more of a African batik). These buttons are also from Hobby Lobby. (My first Issy Miyake had Chinese style buttons, but they are gold and to heavy for this fabric).

This is a great pattern because it is three pattern piece: blouse, neck facing and sleeve facing. Cut on folded over fabric and only 6 pieces to sew together. After marking about 20 different triangles, squares and circles, it is a few seams with a lot of shape matching (like origami).

Like Blue Sky Alpacas sweater this project actually sat around waiting for buttons to be sew on due to sewing for the School Musical. The play is Shrek and we had 27 Duloc costumes to make. A red and blue lycra dress or a blue and red lycra dress depending on your part (ie, cross referencing list for the right size in the right color). A lot of cutting, darts, fitting so the skirt is actually at the waist (tell a boy "put this top on so it opens the back" and hand it to them just that way and they come back wearing it like a button down shirt), gathered hemmed skirts and a zipper (royal pain - no pun intended - even after doing 21). They will be the best dressed court Lord Farquaad ever had!

My next project has no zippers, but needs to be finished by the end of March. Another quilt challenge.

Blue Sky Alpacas Pink Cotton Sweater

Hockey season has ended and I completed my Blue Sky Alpacas pink cotton sweater using the pattern QueSera cardigan by Kristen Kapur.

This pattern has 12 repeating rows which I eventually "saw" as I knitted so I did not need to refer to my pattern cheat cards. The pattern said zero ease and it fits well and is not baggy in the waist. It will need new buttons. These gold metal buttons I purchased have a pattern which complements the pattern of the sweater but they are very heavy. If the top button is undone then its weight pulls the sweater flap over. I will have to keep looking for something made of lighter material.

February Bee Block - Wonky Log Cabin House Blocks

This month was vibrant colors to create a wonky log cabin house. A summertime house in the middle of winter. The most difficult part was adding logs to turn the rectangle house into a square block.

Quilt Along 2015 - February - Chevron

The next block for February is a Chevron pattern. It is a paper piecing block. They are mismatched at the points. I think it due to the bulk of the seams since I pressed them in one direction.
