NewBee - October - her Own Design

Catherine designed her own block. It is 9.5 x 72 inches.

I made a smaller version for my Cascade quilt.

Here are the 2 blocks side by side.

Crayon Quilt Challenge

  • Draw 3 crayons blindly from the bag. Use on the three color of the crayons chosen in your quilt. you may add a neutral (white, tan, grey or black) is desired.

My chosen colors are asparagus, turquoise blue, razzle dazzle rose.

  • Completed quilt can be any size as long as the shortest side is 12 inches or more. This will allow for a table runner or mini at the small end of the size spectrum.

My quilt is a wall hanging measuring 16 inches x 16 inches.

  • A modern aesthetic is to be reflected in the design of the quilt.

My pattern is from Cloud9 Fabrics Cirrus Solids BOM November 2014.

  • The actual crayons must be attached to the front of quilt. (ie. baggie pinned to front of quilt).

  • Completed quilts are due at the September meeting. Prize will be raffled to participants.

I am so happy with these colors. It said 'Quilt me with beads'. Probably an overreaction to my not so happy colors from the last solids color challenge.

NewBee: September - Labyrinth

I was the Bee Queen for July and will post those blocks later.

Michelle is bee Queen for September. Her block is Labyrinth. It is much simpler to put together than it looks.

NewBee - May

I joined the NewBee at CJMQG. We are 7 quilters making large blocks that are simpler, that is no paper piecing.

Juanda asked for a Missouri Star Quilt block. This block is a ginormous (her words) 23.5 inch block. She was very organized and sent detailed instructions and video tutorial link.

Since I lost interest in the Project48 quilts, (although I may make this week's block.) I made one for that quilt.

I am the June bee. My block is the Double Z.

Patchwork City: Set 1

This year CJMQG is has chosen Elizabeth Hartman's book Patchwork City for this years Quilt-A-Long. The book contains 75 blocks. Members can design their own quilt. I am going to do a scrap quilt. Each of my "block" is a randomly selected 5x14, 8x8 and 5x8. I have an array of fabrics which I will swap in and out. Every set will have have the floral cat print, light blue denim and white.

Set 1:

5x14: Zoo Train
5x8 Fortune Cookie
8x8: Intercom

I am planning to base my layout on "Downtown".
